One of the things that the country (specifically the people in the Kementerian Pelancongan dan Kebudayaan Malaysia who's in charge of our public libraries) has done right is subscribing to popular international magazines on Zinio and letting the rakyat read them for FREE!
There are almost 100 titles of magazines ranging from light readings (Reader's Digest, the O Magazine, Every Day with Rachel Ray, Martha Stewart Living) to heavy ones (Philosophy Now, Popular Science), those concerning hobbies (Beadwork, Bird Watching, Automobile, Gardening & Outdoor Living), sports (Golf Tips, Bicycling, Black Belt, Yoga), gadgets (Mac World, Digital Camera World ), parenting (Family Circle) and there's even some choices for teens and children (Seventeen, Girl's Life, K-Zone, Asian Geographic Junior).
All these can be read from your PC browser or Zinio for Libraries app on your tablets and smartphones.
First, you would need to register as a member of Sumber Digital Perpustakaan Negara Malaysia here.
Then, follow the instructions given as you would need to register to another platform, the RBdigital Gateway, inside the library's website. But don't worry, the instructions are easy enough. And the trouble is nothing compared to having FREE reading materials at your fingertips all year long!
A copy of The O Magazine sells for RM27 something in bookstores. Imagine how much money you'll be saving with this facility. Ka ching!
